How to get started in BMX



You will need

BMX Bike


• A BMX bike that is in good working order, the wheels should be 20” or cruiser size 24”. Younger riders can use either 12 or 16”.
• The bike needs to be in good mechanical order with no stands or bells attached for safety reasons. The bike must have pads on the cross bar, handlebar and gooseneck.

Clothing


• long sleeve top, tucked into long legged pants or track suit
• socks that cover the ankle bone
• fully enclosed shoes with a non slip sole or clipless pedals
• gloves and a
• full face helmet

Costs / Licences

Prices as at 1st January 2008


• Day Licence $15 valid only for 1 day or
• A Sprocket license is for riders 7 years and under - BMXA Licence cost is $76 plus $30 club membership Total $106 or
• An Open Licence is for riders who have turned 8 years old and over - BMXA Licence cost is $76 plus $30 club membership Total $106 or
• A Club Permit, which restricts a rider to only riding at the Castle Hill BMX Track - BMXA Licence cost $56 plus $30 club memberships $86

All licences are valid for 12 months, each club meeting you attend will cost you $5

Note: Copy of Birth Certificate or Drivers licence is needed when you first apply for the licence
